Wall to Wall to Ceiling

These two rooms from the latest edition of Lonny caught my eye:





Could you do it? Commit to one wallpaper to cover all the walls? And possibly even the ceiling? It definitely makes a statement! I gotta say that I'm digging the mix of romantic floral with modern lighting and furniture.

So do you love the look or not so much?

Smile Because It Happened

I came across this quote in Rue Magazine:



And it did make me smile, and made me think about how nice it feels to embrace the movement of time.

To live in the moment. Find the good. Hold onto it.

And move forward.

Feel incredibly lucky that I was there. That for a moment in time I held their sweet little hands, smelled their perfect babyness, kissed their soft cheeks, heard their "b's" instead of "v's".

And smile.

Because it happened. And I got to be there.

Sweet Dresses

These organic dresses from Whitten Grey are too sweet. Do the cuts, colors and patterns remind you of paper doll dresses or is it just me? Either way, I'd take the dresses and that cute haircut!

But speaking of paper dolls, I've spotted a few takes on them lately. This feature from Small Magazine:

Maybe they're coming back...or maybe they never left, and since until recently I was focused on boy things I didn't notice!

Stacks

You know what I find amazing? When I see ordered stacks of books and magazines like these:

How in the world do they keep them stacked up so nicely?! If M [or H + S for that matter] were anywhere in striking distance those stacks would be swiped, leveled and scattered. And that sweet little plant in the second picture would be toast, too.

For now, we have to keep books either on bookshelves or above 3 feet high. When we were moving books onto our shelves, my sister said sweetly "You know, I like it when books are at the front of the shelf." I know, me too. But if I did that it would only be a matter of minutes before they were pushed to the back anyway! And our coffee table?



Vogue Living gets my apologies everyday for the abuse it suffers. I tell it not to worry, that it's building up character.

Happiness + Lonny

Happy One Year to Lonny! I'm so happy that Lonny decided to come along. She brings me the same kind of happiness that Domino did. The only thing that keeps Lonny from surpassing the Domino happiness is that I can't hold her. And I want to. Maybe one day when this old economy is happily humming along again, I will find her sitting in my mailbox with all her delectable goodness. Do you think it will happen?





Since my Cappuccino cup has been empty for a while, I think it's time for a trip to J.K. Place:

Head of the Crew

Miss Mags and I made a trip to see the fam and some friends this week, and the other night, my dad brought home the WSJ. magazine from the Wall Street Journal. He thought my sister and I would want to read it because there was "a big article on J. Crew." Can you can tell he's the father of three girls and has paid more than a few J. Crew bills?



I'm so glad he did save it for us because I really enjoyed it. The article is more specifically about Mickey Drexler, the current CEO of the company, who has been known to play Come On Eileen over the intercom, and rides his bike and rings the bell through the office. Sounds like my kind of work environment! Not that it's all fun and games -- he has high standards -- but he seems to balance personality and professionalism well, fostering an environment of both creative, unconventional thinking and top quality work.

I was actually just in J.Crew the other day, thinking about how much I like it now. There were a few years there in between my college years and now when it bored me a little bit. Not anymore. The patterns, textures, layering -- I love it all. What do I wish were currently in my wardrobe? Glad you asked...

A Laugh

When I need a laugh, I head over to Unhappy Hipsters and it always delivers. Why do I like it? I think it's because it reminds me not to take myself so seriously and to always be real with people. I also think it's because I really like the magazines the pictures are taken out of and the pictures themselves. In fact, one of them below is from a feature I posted not too long ago!

Have You Seen...

...Lonny, a new online magazine started by some folks that worked at Domino? I just discovered this online treasure, which is now on it's second issue. Below are some images I thoroughly enjoyed -- catch the whole issue online [lonnymag.com].






I don't think that I could fully convert to online magazines because I enjoy holding the pages in my hands, but I do like the accessibility and the limited waste. Plus, I'll look at anything that resembles Domino! What do you think about online magazines?

Inspired By

I'm consistently inspired by the clothing designs, catalog and store displays at Anthropologie. I just received the November catalog, and this time was no exception. While I was flipping through it, I realized how much I was enjoying just looking at it, like each section was a mini art exhibit. Here are some of my favorite images:

Not Another One...

Please say it's not true...there is already a hole on my side table where Domino belongs, but now those meanies at Conde Nast are closing Cookie magazine. I always looked forward to the mix of style, stories, product reviews and recipes in this magazine, plus the layout design was one of my favorites. Now I have to deal with 2 holes on my side table...

Catalog Day

Yesterday was catalog day at my house -- I kid you not, 7 showed up in our mailbox. Curious what I tore out?


The Land of Nod has amazing storage options. I'm digging the colorful organization of this kid closet. Sadly, at my house, it wouldn't look like that for long before the boys tore into it! A girl can dream, though.

Oh, Anthropologie. I can always count on a clean, creatively formatted catalog from them filled with all sorts of eye candy in the form of pretty patterns, textures and cuts.


I tore out this page [above] because I've got my eye on these shoes...

They are made by Frye, and I'm wondering how comfortable they are?

Pottery Barn always gets me with their organization accessories -- I can't imagine if I had a wall like this in my house. I'm wondering if keeping the organizing wall organized would stress me out, though?!


I liked the theme of J.Crew -- kind of like a road trip across America. This ensemble in particular caught my eye, but let's be honest -- there is no way in the world I could wear that silk skirt and it not look disastrous after 10 minutes. Still, orange, gray and gold -- does it get better than that?


And lastly, this new catalog, Cambria Cove, carries Claus Porto soaps [not cheap, I know, but I love the packaging]:
